Hike to the top of Crabtree Falls in Nelson County Virginia.
Crabtree Falls contains 5 major cascades and is the highest vertical-drop cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi River that falls a total distance of 1,200 feet! This one is located in Nelson County Virginia and not to be confused with the Crabtree Falls located in North Carolina. Roundtrip will be around 3.5 to 4 miles and remember, where there are waterfalls, there is elevation gain so set your expectations accordingly. And finally, remember safety and to stick to the trail. Over 30 people have fallen to their death when venturing off trail near the waterfalls.
NOTE: This is an extremely popular hiking destination and parking spots are hard to come by on the weekend. Your best option is to hike during the week and to avoid the weekend.
