
Virginia Backpacking has a series of Virginia Hiking Challenges. The magnitude of the challenges will vary to help accommodate the wide array of backgrounds and abilities of our fellow hikers. In recognition of your pursuits you will have the opportunity to earn a patch that relates to the specific challenge. Check back on occasion as we periodically add new challenges! We'll also announce new challenges on our Facebook page.

Think you have what it takes to tackle five of the highest points in Virginia?
Hike any 10 miles of the Appalachian Trail in Virginia. Overachievers that hike the entire 555 miles of AT in Virginia get added to our Virginia Hiker Hall of Fame!
Hike to the top of the highest cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi in Nelson County Virginia!
Hike, bike, and/or paddle at least 12 miles in the beautiful Martinsville - Henry County area.
Hike any of the several trails located in Dolly Sods Wilderness, West Virginia.
Hike to the top of iconic Dragon's Tooth, part of Virginia's Triple Crown near Roanoke.
Hike from the ocean to the bay across one of Virginia State Parks' hidden gems.
You could be the highest person in Virginia when you summit Mount Rogers in southwest Virginia. Two different designs are available.
